The preparser seems to always be returning an empty file. I'm not sure why that is. Please see what this prints (the command the first test is running with --debug added)

/usr/bin/perl -Iblib/arch -Iblib/lib -IPreproc/blib/arch -IPreproc/blib/lib vppreproc  -y verilog inc2.v --debug

Also BTW I just checked the most recent version out of GIT and it works on my fully-up-to-date cygwin on Vista.

Hi.

  1. Here is the log of what happens when I type the command (nothing...)
  2. I put here also 'uname -a'; (I certainly dont want to update this machine cygwin / or os to Vista..

Administrator@st ~/perl-cpan/Verilog-Perl-3.110
$ /usr/bin/perl -Iblib/arch -Iblib/lib -IPreproc/blib/arch -IPreproc/blib/lib vppreproc -y verilog inc2.v --debug

Administrator@st ~/perl-cpan/Verilog-Perl-3.110
$ uname -a
CYGWIN_NT-5.1 st 1.5.19(0.150/4/2) 2006-01-20 13:28 i686 Cygwin

Administrator@st ~/perl-cpan/Verilog-Perl-3.110

The debug line returns nothing??? That's very odd, it should have a lot of output.

Unfortunately you'll have to do some digging yourself as I can't recreate it. Try adding some print statements to script/vppreproc and see if anything gets printed out.

BTW I certainly wasn't suggesting an upgrade to Vista and never would ;) - just noting that it does work somewhere under cygwin. You might want to try updating your cygwin packages if you can though, there have been at least 3 occasions I know of where the cygwin g++ program has been broken.

Closing - no recent response so assume things worked out.
